The AST has today written to Arsenal Chief Executive Vinai Venkatesham asking him to support our efforts to persuade UEFA to allocate more tickets to teams of the competiing finalists.
The letter we have sent is set out here:
Dear Vinai
Allocation of tickets to teams who reach the UEFA European Club finals
We have discussed this issue over a number of years as the AST has campaigned along with other supporter groups and Football Supporters Europe(FSE) for better treatment for supporters of clubs who reach the UEFA European Club finals.
I attach for your information the motion that is now FSE policy following a proposal tabled by the AST at the last FSE Congress.
One of the most important issues is a fair allocation of tickets to fans of the teams who reach the final. It is the fans of the clubs who have supported the tournament throughout its group and knock out rounds, they deserve the opportunity to also attend the final.
This is an issue where steady progress has been made in recent years as FSE have been given greater involvement in UEFA’s delivery of the finals. We were pleased to see the ending of the general sale which has allowed more tickets to be held back. A move aided by the introduction of dynamic ticketing. This has meant more tickets for the competing clubs. But there is still room for improvement.
The AST is calling for the supporters of each of the teams who reach the final to be allocated 1/3rd of the stadia capacity. This is a pragmatic request that still leaves 1/3rd of capacity for UEFA’s other commercial and football family needs.
Please can Arsenal use their influence within UEFA and the ECA to request this is considered and acted upon by the UEFA competition’s committee.
